The Parish of Outeragh,
County Tipperary, Ireland
Surnames A-K

  Surnames L-V
The Parish of Outeragh in County Tipperary contains three townlands: Chamberlainstown, Outeragh, and Whiteland. The chart below is a transcription and compilation of the Tithe Applotment Book, Griffith's Primary Valuation, and Tithe Defaulters Ireland, 1831, for the parish. Within the chart, surnames are listed in alphabetical order, not in the order they are found within the sources. The columns labeled "Tithe per Acre" and "Tithe per Annum" are from the Tithe Applotment Book. The column labeled "Net Annual Value" is from Griffith's Primary Valuation. The Page and Map columns only pertain to the latter source. Scroll to the right to see the whole chart. The information from Tithe Defaulters Ireland, 1831, only contains names and places of abode for this parish. Note: Names in dark red are NOT included in the Heritage World/Genealogical Publishing Company/Broderbund CD version of Griffith's Primary Valuation. Use this CD with caution, realizing that a negative search may only mean that the person you're searching for was not included in the CD, but was enumerated in Griffith's Primary Valuation. Check here for a review of this CD.

About This Transcription
I am studying the Parish of Outeragh to determine how many of the 19th century residents eventually emigrated to the Detroit, Michigan, area in the United States. My husband's ancestor, John Doherty, Esq., listed above, emigrated at age 91 to join three of his children who had emigrated before him: Nicholas lived in White Lake Township, Oakland County, MI; Charles lived in Detroit, MI; and Margaret, wife of James Conklin, lived in Deerfield Township, Livingston County, MI. John died three years later and is buried adjacent to his daughter Margaret at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Deerfield. Many Irish settled in Oakland and Livingston counties in the 19th century. I am primarily interested in the Irish that settled in Oakland County.

If any of the people listed on this page are your ancestors, I am interested in hearing from you.

I would also like to hear from you if your Irish ancestors immigrated to Oakland County, Michigan.
